Excellent Beach Casting Setup.

I use this setup all the time as my standard all purpose Beach Casting and sometimes Sea setup. It gives good line strength, rod response and amazing cast abilty.
14ft Surf Rod / Abu Abassadeur Reel / 30lb Mono Mainline / 15lb Mono Hook line.
Fixed Ledger / 3oz sea lead / Hook size, barbed 10 to 16 depending on species targeted and bait size used. Set drag at 2 thirds to full depending on fish targeted.
Watch out for long casts!
Best all round Sea baits tend to be - Scallops/Crab/Sandeel/Prawns/Squid.

Trout Fishing

To catch trout you must firstly take these things into consideration:
1. What time of year.
2. what time of day.
3. what setup.
4. what fly to use.
Once you get these right then you are on your way to catching the trout.
I can recommend the following date time and set up for the trout.
March 13th
1200hrs
15ft salmon/reservoir rod, 4mm fly line.
blue upright fly
This will get you into trout on most trout venues.

Spinning...

When spinning, don't forget (like I did!) you can press 'A' (default key) to auto real in at a nice slow pace.

Ledgering...

When ledgering into flowing water with a bite alarm, reel in all slack and put on rod-rest as normal. Your alarm will now be going, beep...beep...beep... etc. Now all you need to do is take off the bailarm (the default key is 'B') and wait a couple of secs for it to stop beeping, then just put the bailarm back on (again 'B'). And thats it! You will have about 1-2 inches of slack and no beeps! Nuff said!

Nigels 12' Carp rod

Makes a good general ledger and sea fishing rod and casts further than the default FS2 models.
